AI receptionist

An AI receptionist on the phone that answers every call

From 3 CZK/min (~EUR 0.13) and 25 CZK (~EUR 1.04) a month for the number - no approval process, no multi-year contract.

How it works

01

You buy a number

A Czech number (+420) from Prague, Brno or the 910 range is active within seconds of purchase - nothing to get approved up front.

02

You write what the receptionist should say

The system prompt spells out how the agent introduces itself, what it may promise, and how it collects a name and phone number. You'll find a ready-made prompt for your industry on its own page - pick it from the industry grid further down.

03

You forward the phone or put the number on your site

Set the routing in the portal or via the API and the agent starts answering calls. Find the message and call summary in the portal, or have them sent via a call.completed webhook; calls can also be transferred straight to your number.

How much an AI receptionist costs

You pay only for what actually happens: call minutes, the agent surcharge and a flat fee for the number. No bundle of minutes that expires.

An AI receptionist for auto repair shops that answers while you're under the car

An AI receptionist for restaurants that takes reservations even during the rush

Set up a number in minutes and the agent keeps answering on weekends and in the middle of the dinner rush. It takes table reservations, states opening hours, and for larger bookings, says staff will confirm capacity.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI receptionist cost per month?
You pay 3 CZK/min (~EUR 0.13) (the incoming call plus the voice agent combined) and 25 CZK (~EUR 1.04) a month for the number - nothing else, no bundle of minutes. At 10 calls a day averaging 2 minutes each, an AI receptionist costs roughly 1,825 CZK (~EUR 76.04) a month; the calculator above works out the exact number for your volume.
Is it legal to record phone calls in the Czech Republic?
Calls handled by the voice agent are recorded by default, the recording is available in the portal, and we delete it 90 days after the call. As the number's operator you are the data controller towards the caller, so informing them about the recording is your responsibility - the safest place is the agent's first sentence. The exact wording is in our Terms and Privacy Policy.
Does the AI receptionist speak natural Czech?
Yes - the agent speaks Czech (the Anet voice, a young female voice with a professional delivery), and you also write the system prompt it follows in Czech; the docs recommend writing it in short, spoken Czech.
How long does it take to set up an AI receptionist?
The number is active within seconds of purchase. Writing the prompt for what the receptionist should say and setting up call routing to the agent usually takes just a few minutes - no approval process, nothing to install.
Will an AI receptionist replace a real person?
Not entirely - it's a tool for routine calls: bookings, opening-hours questions, basic information. When a caller asks for a person, or hits something the agent can't handle, you can set up a transfer to your own number; without a transfer the agent takes a message and you call back.
What happens when the AI receptionist can't resolve a call?
If you've enabled transfer on the agent, it forwards the call to your number. Without it, the agent follows your prompt to note what you need (say, a name, phone number and reason) and ends the call politely - you'll find the note in the call transcript in the portal.
Is Twilio available for Czech phone numbers?
Yes, but for a Czech local number Twilio requires a regulatory bundle of documents that also needs approval. With volai you buy a number from Prague, Brno or the 910 range in one step and it's active within seconds. See the Twilio alternative page for a detailed comparison.
What is a SIP trunk and why would a business need one?
A SIP trunk is a data connection that carries calls over the internet instead of a traditional line - useful when you want to connect a number to your own PBX, softphone, or an agent outside volai. Most small businesses don't need one at all: forwarding the number to the AI receptionist or a mobile is enough. The SIP documentation covers the technical setup.
